My life is a canvas…

My life is a canvas…

May I show your beauty

You have created in every leaf and rock.

May I add color to another’s life by listening

and be gentle to their ears without my constant talk.

May all the kindnesses you have given

to me be displayed in living colour.

May I give your love and beauty to another

By service through surrender in my life and in my walk.

May I follow your pleadings and nudges with willingness,

Love and open-mindedness and not always balk.

May I fulfill my mission each moment, each hour, each day

By doing things in Thy name and walk the narrow Way.

Cabin fever…

Colin Hall
Colin Hall
Cabin fever has gone on too long
Time to write or sing a song.
Time to paint and make some color
Or a luncheon date with your favorite feller.
You know you want to
cover up your head
take hot chocolate back to your bed
Or go out on an adventure instead.
February has its ruse
But its purpose at the moment
Has escaped the muse.
Time for baking some homemade bread
to eat with hot chocolate back to your bed.
TIme for a haircut or some new spring shoes
Time for a night of jazz and the blues.
Cause this white on white on white
Has gone on too long…
Time for some hyacinths in my living room
And dinner party when they bloom.
Time for day with just the girls
Dig out the wee black dress and a string of pearls.
Time for me to stop complaining
With all this snow…at least it’s not raining.

Reach out…

I watch

as the writer

reaches for the quill,

as the artist uses colour

and hones their skill.

I seek to learn

as the musician

strokes the right key

I wonder in amazement of all the harmony.

All of nature begins to unfold

in the morning majestic sunrise

or in the evening’s reds and golds.

I am fulfilled in joyous gratitude

as the love of the Creator fills my life.

I reach out to another

to walk with them through strife.

I reach inward now to give thanks

at the end of my days

To live in loving service to share the love in praise.

The apple and the crone

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Content she sits with the apple.

No radio, no technology,

No book, no camera.

Just the solitary pleasure

of the apple.

Thankful she still has her own teeth

Her lips pucker in delight of  the first sour bite.

How many wonderful stories about apples had she heard?

How many trees grew from just one apple seed?

How many folks would relate to the

simple pleasure of eating an apple

in the dead of winter?

thIt would not matter…

she was blessed with pleasures of the apple.

Her spirit danced with joy.

Now is the time…

Now is the time

To sing your praise.

Now is the time

to feel the Creator’s gaze.

A soft wind caresses the trees.

Soul is moved deeply by the gentle breeze.

Now is the time

to give praise and rejoice.

Now is the time

to give service with one voice.

Now is the time

for the Ancient of Days.

To be heard clearly and to  follow Its ways.

The cleansing of the river…for ECK New Year

The cleansing of the river…

forever, calls me Home.

Home to the river.

It is my sanctuary.

No need to roam.

I must go down to the river…

the poet wrote…

To the lonely sea and the sky…wrote another.

We are all called to the river.

There is no reason to ask why.

When beneath its water I am blessed

Cleansed, renewed, refreshed

With no more forgetfulness.

I remember by  the river.

I renew in the river.

The river takes me Home.
