The dawn is breaking on my 70th winter……

The dawn is breaking on my 70th winter……

But I have  always said

I am so many “summers old”.

No matter what the season,

the temperature or cold.

I have always tried to

reach for the Creator,

bring the sunlight through.

I did it by appearing crazy….

but it worked for me and you.

You never had to worry.

You never had to fret or guess.

I always had a family who were praying.

Oh, my goodness I was blessed.

In the days,

when I thought the spirit,

was in the bottle

I wandered, oh so far, far  from home.

I put the pedal to medal.

I stomped on it full throttle.

You never had to worry.

You never had to fret or guess.

I always had a family who were praying.

Oh, my goodness,  I was blessed.

Now the years have come and gone.

The lessons I have learned.

I leave the bottle on the shelf.

Demon rum I now can spurn.

You never had to worry.

You never had to fret or guess.

I always had a family who were praying.

Oh, my goodness I was blessed.

I am reflecting,  now ,

that I have been safely home

More years than I was lost

But the “bamage to my drain” cell.

It really had a cost.

You never had to worry.

You never had to fret or guess.

I always had a family who were praying.

Oh, my goodness I was blessed.

The faith of our Mother’s mother

stood by me,

when I failed the test.

I fought the fight.

I found the light.

I  am so truly blessed.

You never had to worry.

You never had to fret or guess.

I always had a family who were praying.

Oh, my goodness I was blessed.

Now  in doing

the Creator’s work

It is  my service,

 offering, a prayer, a song,

a poem, a laugh or a dance

I allow the Sunlight of the Spirit in.

My 70th winter is full of romance.

You never had to worry.

You never had to fret or guess.

I always had a family who were praying.

Oh, my goodness I was blessed.

    1. How sweet of you…..I almost deleted because I was thinking it sounded too much like a country song…..you know ” Whose going take the garbage out after I am gone.” Your encouragement is heaven sent……thank you
