Oh, baby

the Mother cried

when baby came from the womb.

Oh, baby

the Mother cried

when baby took their first steps across the room

Oh baby

the Mother cried

when baby went off to school to show the world their knowledge

Oh baby

the Mother cried

when her baby graduated from college

Oh baby

the Mother cried

as she watched

her baby go down the aisle

Oh baby

the Grand Mother cried

as the grand baby sand its first song of life

Oh baby

the Grand Mother cried

as her grand son became a soldier

Oh baby

the Great Grand Mother cried

when the son returned from the war

with his wife and great grand-daughter

Oh baby

the Great Great  Grande Mother said

I don’t think I can leave me bed.

The great great grand son

tiptoed close and said

I will sing you a song

Great Great Grand Mother

As he did, a band of angels, saints, divas, Masters and fairies

filled the room and the Great Great Grand Mother’s eyes

Oh baby

I am drifting up around my room

Oh baby

The pain has left my body

Oh baby

I am dancing past the moon.

Many moons past

The great great grand son

Had married

His wife was giving birth

As he held the new-born child

He thought of his great great grand mother

That she now had returned to earth.

Oh baby

He smiled with tears in eyes

She had returned

She was now his son

Oh baby.
