Stir the home made beans,
Then put water on for tea.
I bask in thoughts of our meeting
The way your eyes smiled as we danced.

You are already home.

I would love the following things:

• one last dance
• One kiss from the stranger across a crowed room
• A bunge jump off the tallest cliff
• Hang gliding over the mountains
• Making a snow fort after lying in the flakiest snow making snow angels
• A day quilting with my friend
• An afternoon long coffee date with double salts…and you know who
• Swimming in the ocean….floating like an otter
• Wearing high heels and a mink coat
• A warm hug
• A decent batch of pickles

It is quite a list  Before the lights go out.

I want to scream

How could you

every month on the anniversary

(of my parents passing

they passed 60 days apart)

  I want to scream at the calendar

How is this possible

I am just starting to smile

from the anniversary last month

Where in hell does time

go between these dates

I clean, I scrub,

I shovel, I laugh and I cry

but just when I am

climbinmg up from the abyss

that date is here to say

hello…..and hi…….

where in tarnation

am I getting the reserve to carry on

is it from watching others

 how they cope

is it knowing my beloveds are

“at peace“

 I am full of hope

How in hell can I

make it through

another anniversary date.

The silent teacher in the Forest

Open 

my eyes

 that I might see 

all of the beauty

You have given to me.

Open  

 my ears

that I might hear

all of the song birds 

that I love so dear.

Open 

my heart

to seeing 

all the love

Soul is being. 

Open

my arms

that I may love

all of  my friends

for their wonderous charms.

Open

my home

that I might share

all the bounty

You have been placing there.

Open 

my faith

that I might receivbe

all the wonderful 

joys to believe.

Open 

my day-timer

That I might fit

Time to contemplate

To quietly sit. 

Open

my books 

That I might learn

To listen, to see, to hear

What is the service

I am here to share.

Open

the rooms 

to my inner being

That my mission

More clearly I am seeing.

Splashing in and out of the water

puddle is a gathering of magpies…more than five.

When I lived alone on the stump ranch in Northern Alberta Canada

I had the magpies to keep me alive.

This morning they are entertaining as they dance

in the wind flying and drying as they go.

In the deep isolation of the ranch in Silver Valley

the magpies sang with me in the early morning.

They gleaned and cleaned on butchering day

 danced in the wind every other day.

I loved them and love them now.

Once while living in a seniors independent lodge,

one magpie came every day to the tree by my window.

I called him Huey as his call sounded

so much like my prayer song the HU

HU-a love song to God

The day I had my stroke, Huey was squawking more than usual

…bouncing in and out of the soffits

He told me “Get help, get help, get help.”

I did and am alive today

in part due to his love.

One year and one day after returning from hospital,

there is a magpie party of now more than five

We are all celebrating that I am alive.

Are you celebrating too my friend?

I have several magpies

here I could send on the wind.

How do I tell you

what I want you to know?

By holding you close

or letting you go?

How can I share just how it could be

that your love is healing for me?

You are the sunshine on a cloudy day.

You are the reason I would want to stay.

Hanging in.

Hanging on.

Three little phrases that make my life strong.

I hang out with the old ones,

the ancient of days,

they teach me the stories,

they show me their ways.

I hang in

as the listener,

the observer,

the friend,

I am there waiting

when your Journey ends.

I hang on to the beauty,

the joys in my day.

Hang on to nature’s love song,

it brightens my way.

How many times will my gratitude speak

when gifts of love fall at my feet?

How many times will I stop to say,

beloved dear heart, I am glad you stayed?

How many arms will I open wide,

when my love I can no longer hide?

How much love will it take to heal,

how much longer till I get to feel?

How often will my joy increase,

how many times will I offer you peace?

How much love will it take to grow

until it is time for me to go?

How much service can I give,

to thank you for this new way to live?

How much love does it take to  be guessing

how much I needed forgiveness, confessing?

How many lifetimes before I grow 

into following this path with the silence I know?

How many sunsets will it take

before I surrender, before I break?

After the silence, the surrender comes…

I find my sacred song on the tip of my tongue.

How many ways can I say thank you?

Greetings, sweet Soul, my dear heart, my life, my friend.

You are always here at my journey’s end.

I see music when you smile.

I hear waterfalls cascading in the mountains in your laughter.

I bask in the Sunlight of the Spirit when your thoughts touch Soul.

I linger in the dream with your kiss on my pillow.

I put love in the meal as your words touch my hands.

Your sense of humour warms a chilly winter wind.

Your wisdom fascinates me.

Your memory lingers as the scent

of beautiful roses wafts upon the wind of lifetimes.

I remember you.

You are my sense of joy in the midst of grief.

You are my reflection of strength when I cannot speak.

You are the gentle hand that reaches across my shoulder when I sleep.

You are the kiss on the back of my neck when I am too weary to stand.

Your voice is the melody that comforts me across the ages.

You are the words of love filling lonely empty pages.

You are the dance that moves my feet.

You are the painting of love I see but have yet to capture.

Yours is the love in the moment of rapture.

You are the song my heart sings.

You are enchanting.

You are wonderful.

You are you.

You are the part of me I know so well.

You are the joy and laughter, no words can tell.

Nothing more need be said.

I am going to dream you back to me.

I am going to bring you out of my head.

I am inviting you home.

HU-a love song to God

In a moment,

you are going to take the trip

of your lifetime.

Not one induced, persuaded, or under the control of anyone…

except  perhaps your guardian angel, higher power, inner guide.

You do not have to believe

that your guardian, protector, angel, or inner guide exist

you could imagine what they looked like

should that help you in your visualization.

You are going to take a Journey within.

For a moment, find a comfortable place,

where there is minimal opportunity

for you to be disturbed for  a few minutes.

I take off my glasses,

as we will be using our inner eyes.

First, seat yourself..

or lie prone on the earth,

or bed, or floor…what ever works for you.

Between your eyes,

there is a spot

where your unicorn horn fell off.

It is called by some, the door,

the gateway, the third eye.

Calling upon your own breath,

slowly focus on the third eye.

Image a screen there.

Now, slowly a point of light

appears on the screen.

As you sing your sacred song,

be it a prayer or contemplation sound, or mantra….

Allow the light to expand…to the size of a small coin.

This light, with the sacred sound….

brings you closer, closer, to home.

Now, or later, allow the sound and the light to flow

into each cell of your body….take your time…

After all it is your time…your Journey….your adventure. 

As this beautiful light flows

through your being….you arrive at the university within.

You arrive at the being, knowing, seeing place.

Ah, that feels so familiar….so calm, so peaceful…so like home.

Bask in the moment of home. 

Acknowledge your beauty as Soul.

Singing your sacred song, basking in the light…

you sense more of the  ah ha moment….

as it surrounds you within and without. 

Ready to follow the leader…who can that be?

Right, the best most power medicine person for you in this lifetime…

Indeed, dear heart…

It is you.

You are the one who has been with you every step of the way.

Going down the stairs behind your eyes you travel deep within yourself. 

Visualize and invite the leader  within you

to allow your angel, guardian, inner master, protector to be present.

Follow the still small voice of your leader self.

Follow the still small voice of your comforter.

Walk within further.

Ask your questions.

Seek your answers.

When you are ready walk back up the stairs to your forehead.

Singing your sacred song, still basking in the light 

Prepare to come back to the physical.

Like dancing this excercise will take practice….

When I first started I could not stay away once the light, the sound and the presence were felt  

Not to worry just showing the map…..take the trip at your own pace.
